About Harbin Institute of Technology

Harbin Institute of Technology completes the C9 League as China's premier aerospace and defence technology university. HIT has direct involvement in China's space station, lunar exploration, and satellite programs. Originally established with Soviet assistance, it retains a strong Russian influence and deep connections to aerospace industries. Harbin itself is famous for its Russian architecture, ice festivals (January — spectacular!), and extremely cold winters. HIT also operates campuses in Weihai (seaside) and Shenzhen (tech hub), giving students options for different climates.

Note: some advanced programs may have restrictions for certain nationalities due to defence connections. GPA: 2.8+/4.0.

Campus Life

Harbin winters are COLD (-20°C to -30°C), but the Harbin Ice Festival is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The city has beautiful Russian-style architecture, amazing dumplings, and a unique cultural blend. Summer is pleasant. Weihai campus offers seaside living.
